Sid Hamer has been writing fiction for sixteen years and non-fiction for twenty-four. Her non-fiction work includes: columnist for Steppin’ Out Magazine, editor for the Writer’s Room Magazine, and copywriter for the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center. She is a member of Panhandle Professional Writers, Writer’s World and Writers and Author’s Circle.

The Poison Jar (originally titled The Poor Man’s Daughter) won first place in the Kansas Writer’s Association 2010 First Chapter contest and second in the Kansas Writer’s Association 2010 Grabber Contest. It also won second place in the historical novel category at the Panhandle Professional Writers 2010 Frontiers in Writing Contest.

Kinsman won third in the Panhandle Professional Writer’s 2013 Frontiers in Writing contest and is the second book in The Poison Jar series.

Inside the Lines won first place in Author Helper’s Snappy Dialogue Contest, was a finalist in the Panhandle Professional Writers 2002 Frontiers in Writing contest and a semi-finalist in the 2000 Austin Writer’s League Manuscript Contest. Her second novel, Between Earth and Dawn won third place in the Abilene Writer’s Guild Contest in 2004.

Her poem, The Llano Estacado, won first place in the 2003 Panhandle Professional Writers Frontiers in Writing contest.

Every manuscript is a new journey, an adventure of the mind in a time and place of my choosing with characters I love, doing things which might put me in the crosshairs if fiction became reality.
